About Bloemendaal

A beach of beach clubs between Zandvoort and IJmuiden, with breaking waves and currents. The road, concrete and beach houses sit close behind the beach.

The beach faces WNW (296°). Offshore wind, the clean kind, blows from between ENE and SSE; onshore wind from between SW and N chops it up; the rest is cross-shore.

We take the wind 5 km out to sea, check the waves against Rijkswaterstaat's IJgeul 3 station 19 km away, and read storm surge at the IJmuiden gauge.

Along the coast: Zandvoort to the south, Wijk aan Zee to the north.
